The POTS Guide to High-Sodium Sit-Down Dining at Disneyland

If you're managing POTS, you already know the drill: keep moving, keep hydrating, keep your sodium up, and — this is the part people forget — take real breaks. Not a five-minute bench sit. A real, sit-down, air-conditioned, take-your-time break. I talked about why that kind of break matters so much in my WDW POTS guide too — the parks change, but the principle doesn't. ‍

That's exactly what a table-service reservation gives you. Every restaurant on this list requires either a reservation or a walk-up waitlist through the Disneyland App, which means you're guaranteed a seat, a breather, and — if you order right — a serious sodium boost to help expand your blood volume for the rest of the day.

‍Below is every sit-down restaurant in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, with the two highest-sodium picks in each meal category so you can plan your break strategically.

‍ A quick note: Disney doesn't publish official sodium counts for table-service menus, so these are estimates built from ingredient breakdowns, not lab-tested numbers. If you need exact figures for medical reasons, email SpecialDiets@Disneyland.com or ask to speak with a chef when you're seated.

‍ ‍Menus at Disneyland also change often — sometimes seasonally, sometimes with no warning at all. Everything below reflects what was on the menu at the time this post was published, but always double-check the current menu in the Disneyland App before you go, since a dish (or its sodium level) may have changed since I wrote this.

‍ ‍If this is your first time planning a Disneyland trip around a chronic illness, it might help to start with my full packing list — the bag I bring is basically the toolkit this whole dining strategy supports. And if you'd rather hand off the planning altogether, let me build the trip for you — reservations, pacing, and all.

Disneyland Park

‍ Carnation Café — Main Street, U.S.A.

Carnation Café — Main Street, U.S.A.

Breakfast:

  • Walt's Chili Cheese Omelet — 1,600–2,000 mg

  • Breakfast Skillet — 1,400–1,600 mg

Starters

  • Walt's Chili — 1,500–1,800 mg

  • Fried Pickles — 1,200–1,600 mg

Entrées:

  • Chicken Fried Chicken — 2,200–2,600 mg

  • Carnation Café Cheeseburger — 2,000–2,400 mg

Boost it further: Ask your server for a side bowl of their pickle spears — roughly 300+ mg per spear for almost no extra effort. And don't be shy about requesting an extra cup of the country cream gravy or cheese sauce to pour over your fries or potatoes.

River Belle Terrace — Frontierland

Starters:

  • Creamy Dill, Pickle & Onion Dip — 1,400–1,700 mg

  • Chicken Pot Pie Soup — 1,200–1,500 mg

Entrées:

  • Fried Chicken Plate — 2,200–2,600 mg

  • Pot Roast — 2,000–2,400 mg

    No breakfast/brunch service.

Boost it further: Request an extra side of the Creamy Pork Demi-glace to spoon over your mashed potatoes. Since they keep dill pickle brine on hand for the chip dip, you can also ask for a free bowl of loose pickle spears — a fast, low-effort sodium spike.

Blue Bayou — New Orleans Square

Starters:

  • Chicken Gumbo — 1,400–1,700 mg

  • Garlic Cheese Dip Sourdough Boule — 1,400–1,600 mg

Entrées:

  • Monte Cristo Sandwich (lunch only) — 2,200–2,600 mg

  • Ribeye Steak — 1,900–2,200 mg

No breakfast service

Boost it further: Ask for an extra cup of Rémoulade or Shallot Demi-glace for dipping. And don't skip the complimentary bread basket — go for the sourdough rolls specifically, since fermentation requires more baseline salt than a sweeter bread would.

Café Orleans — New Orleans Square

Small Bites:

  • Chicken Gumbo — 1,400–1,700 mg

  • Caesar Salad — 900–1,100 mg

Entrées:

  • Monte Cristo Sandwich — 2,200–2,600 mg

  • Braised Beef — 2,000–2,300 mg

No breakfast service.

Boost it further: The Cajun spice rémoulade that comes with the fries is mayo-and-mustard based — ask for an extra side cup and use it on your sandwich too, not just the fries.

Reservations at all four of these fill fast, especially Blue Bayou — if juggling booking windows on top of everything else sounds like a lot, let me handle the reservations for you.

‍ ‍

Disney California Adventure

Carthay Circle — Buena Vista Street

Upstairs (Dinner):

  • Grilled American Wagyu Picanha — 1,800–2,100 mg

  • Crispy Pork Belly, Gochujang Butter — 1,500–1,800 mg

Downstairs Lounge:

  • Bao Buns, Soy-Ginger Pork Belly — 1,400–1,700 mg

  • Braised Short Rib Sliders — 1,200–1,500 mg

No breakfast service. Upstairs requires a reservation; downstairs lounge takes walk-ups.

Wine Country Trattoria — Pacific Wharf

Starters

  • Fried Calamari — 1,200–1,500 mg

  • Tomato Basil Soup — 1,100–1,300 mg

Entrées:

  • Rigatoni / Spaghetti Bolognese — 2,200–2,600 mg

  • Chicken Parmesan — 2,100–2,400 mg

No breakfast service.

Boost it further: When your server offers freshly grated parmesan, say yes and ask for a generous amount — aged parmesan is one of the saltiest cheeses available and adds pure surface sodium with zero extra effort.

Lamplight Lounge — Pixar Pier

Downstairs Starters:

  • Potato Skins — 1,500–1,800 mg

  • Pork Belly Bao Bun — 1,300–1,500 mg

Downstairs Mains:

  • Gastropub Burger — 2,000–2,300 mg

  • Salmon PLT — 1,600–1,900 mg

Boardwalk Dining (Shareables):

  • Lobster Nachos — 2,400–2,800 mg

  • Barbacoa Nachos — 2,200–2,500 mg

Downstairs requires a reservation; Boardwalk Dining upstairs takes walk-ups

Boost it further: Ask for an extra side of the smoked paprika aioli or chipotle crema — both are salt-heavy and work as a dip for fries, nachos, or literally anything else on the table.

Between two parks, that's a lot of reservation windows to track on top of ride strategy and rest breaks — book with me and I'll build the whole itinerary around it.

‍ ‍

The POTS Takeaway

A high-sodium meal isn't a cheat day — it's the tool. Pairing it with a mandatory sit-down break is the closest thing to a reset button you'll find in either park. Book the reservation, order off this list, ask for the extras above, drink your water, and let your body catch up before you head back out. It's the same philosophy behind how I plan AC breaks and rest stops at WDW — different parks, same non-negotiable: your body sets the pace, not the itinerary.

Need Help Planning the Rest of Your Trip?

‍ If figuring out reservations, park pacing, and rest breaks on top of everything else feels like a lot, you don't have to plan it alone. I work with clients who take sodium and rest breaks just as seriously as I do — someone who actually gets why "just push through" isn't the plan. Fill out my inquiry form and let's build a Disneyland trip around what your body actually needs, not just the standard itinerary.

Coming up in this series: Next month I'm breaking down the highest-sodium mobile order options across both parks — perfect for days when a sit-down reservation just doesn't fit the schedule. And the following week, we're talking best cool, quiet spaces to rest, park by park. Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss either one.
