If you've booked a Disney cruise, chances are you've already heard whispers about "Pirate Night" and maybe even "Frozen Night" — and if you're wondering whether you actually need to plan around them, the answer is yes. These themed nights are some of the most fun, most photographed, most talked-about parts of a Disney cruise, and a little bit of packing prep goes a long way toward making them feel effortless instead of last-minute.

Pirate Night: What to Expect
Pirate Night usually kicks off with a pirate-themed dinner in the main dining rooms, where the whole crew leans all the way into the theme — think pirate-inspired menu items and a genuinely fun atmosphere at the table. From there, the real magic happens up on deck with Pirates in the Caribbean: A Buccaneer Blast (or a similar deck party depending on your ship), a high-energy party complete with music, dancing, Disney characters dressed as pirates, and fireworks at sea — one of the very few places in the world you can actually see Disney fireworks over open water.
It's a full-family event — kids and adults alike get into it, and even guests who weren't planning on dressing up usually end up caught up in the fun.
Pirate Night: What to Pack
A pirate-themed outfit — this can be as simple or as elaborate as you want. A striped shirt, a bandana, and an eye patch go a long way, or you can go all out with a full pirate costume if that's your family's style
Comfortable shoes — you'll be standing and dancing on deck for the party, so save the fancy footwear for another night
A light layer — evenings at sea can get breezy, even in warm climates
Glow accessories (optional but fun) — glow sticks or light-up accessories add to the party vibe after dark

Frozen Night: What to Expect
On select sailings, Frozen Night brings Arendelle to life on board, with a deck party celebrating everything Frozen — music, character appearances from Anna, Elsa, and friends, and a magical atmosphere that's a huge hit with little ones (and let's be honest, plenty of adults too). Depending on your ship, you may also see Frozen touches worked into dinner or entertainment earlier in the evening.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Blues, purples, and whites — most guests lean into an Elsa or Arendelle-inspired color palette rather than a full costume, though costumes are absolutely welcome too
A costume, if your kids are into it — this is a huge moment for little Frozen fans, and plenty of families bring a favorite Elsa or Anna dress along just for this night
Comfortable, warm shoes — you'll be standing outside for the deck party, so skip anything too thin-soled
